Hello Kitty Ice Skating Party

Hello Kitty Ice Skating Party

We were having a super busy time at Party&Co and at home; moving house in just 9 business days from unconditional 'yup pretty crazy', plus the normal; business, school, out of school activities and social commitments that we all have, and we have Miss nearly 7's Birthday coming up. No pressure but last year we invited her whole class plus special friends, we went over the top with a Babushka styled Birthday Party in the Park. This year I'm informed that Miss nearly 7 would LOVE to have a Hello Kitty Ice Skating Party... OKAY! how am I going to make this work for everyone plus make it stylish because I do love pretty themed parties... Let's be honest it can be hard to make a public function area work to meet your expectations. I am a huge believer of making every birthday a special memory, and even though time was not on my side I was going to make this happen.

So we simplified our, 'read my', expectations, reduced the number of children we could look after on an ice skating rink, and tried to keep it simple. This year we didn't buy in a professional cake, cake pops, and macaroons. Mummy guilt though was on full alert as our little Miss had been more than accommodating during our busy house sale period and I was determined to give her the best Mummy Birthday Cake I could.

So I got stuck in with the new kitchen and made my daughter the two layered, one chocolate and one vanilla as one of her friends only likes vanilla, Hello Kitty cake that she had designed from searching the web and by choosing all sorts of bits from all sorts of places.

We baked Hello Kitty shaped cookies, our family tradition, and some cupcakes. We cut out kitty shaped fairy bread and fruit melon bites, and heated up some supermarket bought savories, no time to make my own this year. Packed up the car and headed out to IceWorld Boondall. If you're in Brisbane is a great Ice Rink and they were very accommodating allowing us to decorate the Party Room and bring in our own food.

We blew up balloons - Hello Kitty of course, and decorated the party room with banners and lanterns. Miss nearly 7 laid the party tables with Hello Kitty party products we had selected from Party&Co and made on the computer and we were ready for her guests.

The thirteen children were, as children always are, just stunning, many had little or no experience at Ice Skating but just got in there and thrived on the experience, as did an Aunt who was new to Ice Skating, Impressive! The rink gave a 15 minute lesson to our party group, providing the basics of how to balance, get moving, and stop. The children ice skated around and had a ball, some with the help of balance Penguins.

Usually a bit of a stressed perfectionist on the day of any party, I felt extremely relaxed. I only had two goals for the day 1) that my daughter and her friends all had the best fun, and 2) that there were no broken bones.

Party Thank You Bags were filled with Hello Kitty goodies; Pencils, Pens, Hello Kitty Lipstick Eraser, Pencil Sharpener, Stickers and Hello Kitty Biscuits. The boys had different thank you gifts.

Miss now 7 loved her Party saying 'It was the Best Ever!' her friends had fun and didn't break anything, and bonus Miss 7 had all the Hello Kitty party theming she wanted. Me, well I walked away very happy,  I had made my daughter a mummy made party that ticked all her seven year old boxes, Bliss!
